This is one of the best surf movies I've ever seen. Made by friend Todd Stewart, this film is very far removed from your typically repetitive big budget professional surf video of youthful beautiful people shredding perfect waves in exotic locations.
Lapsed Catholics is a breath of fresh air from a very creative underground surfer filmmaker. This short film is a self-reflective inquiry and very engaging monologue narration of why we surf. It is an unglamorous study of the meaning of a typical surfer's life spent obsessing about riding ocean waves. Watch the trailer here and then order the complete movie when it gets available.
