Patagonia's Organic Art Shirt For Chile

Patagonia, Inc. and artist Chris Del Moro have created a new organic t-shirt to benefit Save The Waves Coalition. The shirt features original art by Chris, whom I traveled and surfed with in central and southern Chile this winter. He's a phenomenal surfer, and his whimsical art leaves an impression on you. The Patagonia art shirt shows a mythical wave in Chile and the pulp mill that threatens it with toxic waste. Chris was stoked to surf the wave he had only drawn before, and his infectious enthusiasm for drawing whales and waves on dusty windows, abandoned doors, empty walls and everywhere he went in Chile had the locals smiling.

Listed on the back of the shirt are surf breaks that have been lost to dredging, construction, and pollution. Save the Waves Coalition is working hard to keep Cobquecura’s pristine pointbreaks off that list. Five dollars from the sale of each shirt goes toward our effort to prevent Chile’s biggest pulp mill company, Celco Arauco, from its plan to dump toxic waste directly into the shorebreak via a pipeline. The shirt is made of supersoft, 100% organic cotton jersey and it is recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program - use it until it's all used up, then return it to Patagonia and they will recycle it into new clothing!
