Pichilemu, Poo & Perfection: Good News

Good news from Pichilemu: the sewage pipeline project has been withdrawn by the ESSBIO Water Company. The company plans on building an inland tertiary treatment facility that will pump highly filtered and treated liquid effluent into a nearby waterway where it will continue to be filtered by natural processes before reaching the ocean in Pichilemu. We are stoked, thanks to all the local and international activists who made this happen! Our work is not over on this issue, as we must remain vigilant with the company to assure that their promises are kept.

An update letter from local Pichilemu activists to the international surfing community is in the works and will be published here in October.

In other good news, our short film Pulp, Poo and Perfection showed to a packed room of students at the University of Hawaii last week. This week it was accepted as an Official Selection at the Viña del Mar International Film Festival on October 21 - 27 in Chile's Garden City of Viña del Mar. The film's unofficial premier in Santiago was at the Banff Mountain Festival in September. "Pulp" also won Honorable Mention at The Accolade Film Competition in California. We are planning the official premier in Santiago for mid-October at Cine Arte Alameda in downtown Santiago!

This film will be available online soon!
